Dec 29th Down the years,England retain Ashes in Australia
On this day in 2010
The rarest feat for England,an Ashes victory in Australia Since it had happened 24 years before then, it would were a bit of tough to understand on the time. After being walloped in Perth, England bounced again magnificently in Melbourne, bowling Australia out for 98 in the 1st innings (Tim Bresnan and Chris Tremlett took 4 wickets each). Then they piled on 513 – Jonathan Trott was unbeaten on 168 – and brushed aside Australia to win with a day to spare. The innings-and-157-run margin used to be some of the heaviest inflicted on Australia.
